Child Maintenance: Do you know your rights?

Is child maintenance a concern? Are you wanting to claim for child maintenance? Are you not sure the amount being paid to you is fair? Or are you being asked to pay child maintenance and not sure of your obligations?
This can be a worry for many parents who may not be sure of their rights. As a basic rule child maintenance is worked out by reference to a person’s income, but other considerations may apply. Parents may agree a figure for child maintenance between themselves or they can apply to the Court to obtain an Order. Any Order that is made is legally binding and can be enforced through the Courts if the paying party does not comply. If you are unsure of your rights, it is always best to seek legal advice before entering into any agreement regarding child maintenance.
At Le Gallais & Luce we offer fixed fee packages for child maintenance matters. For more information or to make an appointment with one of our Lawyers, please contact either Matthew Godden at mgodden@lgl.je or Natalie Addis at naddis@lgl.je
